The Route

The route will be a mix of on- and off-road riding - some relatively easy trails, but also some steep ascents. This year, daily rides of 50-60 kilometers will be complemented by additional trails for the more experienced riders. Why not start training now?!

Day 1

From Metulla to Kibbutz Gonen

Pictures from the Annual Bike RideThe 2010 ride will begin in Metulla, the northern tip of Israel situated on the Lebanese border. We will begin our journey south through the upper Galilee with breath taking views riding along the Jordan River. We will visit the Hula Valley, a wonderful site for riding and bird watching. We will finish the first day at Kibbutz Gonen.

Day 2

From Kibbutz Gonen to Tiberias

Pictures from the Annual Bike RideOn the second day we will experience the lower western Golan Heights. We will bathe in Ein Almin, a natural pool that was build for Syrian officers. We will ride along the ridge of the Meshushim stream and cross the Jordan River. We will then visit Korazim National Park with archeological remains of a Jewish settlement and synagogue from the days of the Mishna and Talmud. We will continue riding south-east to the Kinneret and finish our day in Tiberias, considered one of the oldest holy cities in Israel.

Day 3

From Tiberias to Nazareth (from a holy Jewish city to a holy Christian city)

The third riding day is one of ascent or climbing. We will ride from Tiberias that is 200 meters below sea level and climb to Har Arbel that is 200 meters above sea level and enjoy a spectacular view of the Upper Galilee and the Kinneret. We will continue the ride surrounded by oak trees in Beit Keshet forest and climb Mount Deborah to Nazareth, the birthplace of Jesus.

Day 4

From Nazareth to Ramot Menashe

On day 4 we will ride westwards on paths in Emek Israel valley and Kishon Stream towards Ramot Menashe, known for exceptional Israeli flora. We will visit Tel Meggido (Biblical Armageddon) an archeological site with thousand year old ruins and ride to the lower end of Ein HaShofet forest to Kibbutz Dalia.

Day 5

Ftom Ramot Menashe to Zichron Ya’akov

On day 5 of the bike ride, we will ride on bike trails of Mount Chorshen and finish the entire bike ride at Kehillat Sulam Ya’akov located in Zichron Ya’akov one of the first settlements established during the first Aliyah, the vineyard and wine settlement.
